A look at the weekend that was…
We flew down to San Felipe, Mexico on Thursday for a two-day getaway sponsored by Baja California Tourism, SeaPort Airlines, and the San Felipe Marina Resort & Spa. I’ll be sharing all the details about the trip in a separate post, but I had to include one peek. Valley of the Giants, a cactus valley near San Felipe, is home to hundred of cacti, some of which are 2,000-year-old! Standing amongst these monsters was one of my favorite parts of the trip.
Right after we landed back in San Diego on Saturday, we picked Teddy up from my friend’s place and headed for the Happiest Place on Earth, better known as the Coronado dog beach.
I was invited to check out the savory menu options at Extraordinary Desserts. They have more than just cakes decked out with rose petals?! Yes, indeed, at their Little Italy location they do. There are dips (i.e. spinach and kale dip), paninis, salads, cheese plates, and more. My friend and I each ordered a grilled cheese with tomato soup, and we shared this incredible pesto, which came with bread, crackers, and olives. The downtown location is a lot bigger and more sleek than the cozy Hillcrest branch of ED. It feels more open, and I love that I can stop by for a cheese plate, wine, and some dessert, of course. It’s also worth noting that their coffee has such a deep flavor, owing to the fact that it’s brewed in an espresso machine.
Ending the weekend at Hillcrest Brewing Company, which officially is the first gay brewery in the world and unofficially lays claim to the most dog-friendly patio in all of San Diego. Teddy always gets tons of attention here, so while I showed him off to the crowds, Eaman enjoyed his beer to close out the weekend. And the sun setting at nearly 7 p.m. now? I love Daylight Saving.
Happy Monday!
Wow, great picture of the cactus. It’s amazing how small we look standing under one of those giants! So glad you enjoyed your time and thanks for sharing. PS: My black lab will agree that the happiest place on earth is the Coronado dog beach!
That saguaro is gorgeous! I’m excited to hear about the trip! And I love the picture of Teddy running with the ball. Too cute.
Looks like an amazing weekend. I am loving olives right now — the ones you had look so good!
that cactus looks gigantic! Teddy looks so happy.
