What’s your day job?
I’m a freelance writer. My work has been published in Travel + Leisure, Cosmopolitan, Entertainment Weekly, Details, Sunset, San Diego Magazine, and other outlets.
Why did you move to San Diego?
My boyfriend and I needed a change from big city life in New York. We also didn’t want to deal with winter—at all. San Diego had always been in our minds since we visited in 2010 for a long-weekend trip; we loved the laid-back lifestyle, passion for the outdoors, and road trip possibilities. We moved here barely knowing anyone and without any jobs lined up. We like an adventure!
How long have you and your boyfriend been together?
Seven Eight years. Yep.
What kind of camera do you use?
I shoot mostly with a Canon T2i and a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens along with the plain old kit lens. For times when I don’t feel like lugging around a DSLR, I carry my trusty Canon PowerShot S95, which is about as close as you can get to DSLR quality in a point and shoot. I highly recommend it!
Do you Photoshop your photos?
Slightly. I tweak mainly contrast and exposure via iPhoto, Afterlight, and Pixlr.
Where is your blog template from?
The WordPress template is from Blogzilla, while Jess Jaime designed my logo.
You often refer to a big trip you took. What was that?
I quit my job at Entertainment Weekly in August 2011 and from September 2011 to October 2012, I backpacked around the world with my boyfriend. We spent 5 months in South and Central America, 3 months in Hawaii and 5 months in Asia. I documented our trip over at New York to Nomad.
