I know there are some high-fashion devotees here, but rarely do we San Diegans wear heels or traipse around in splashy dresses for brunch like I sometimes would in New York. Just after moving here and obersving my surroundings, I finally bought T-shirts after years of blouses and “tops.” All that to say, San Diego’s dress code is much like our attitude m.o.: laid-back and oh-so-relaxed. Not a bad thing, but sometimes I miss the fun of fashion.
So that’s why meeting someone who says “Eff you” to the status quo is so refreshing. And that’s why I was instantly hooked to Lauren Winget and her style blog, La Petite Winget. In Lauren’s world, neon reigns supreme, patterns are meant to be mixed, and paying full price for something you can make yourself (or with the help of an expert tailor) is just silly. I recently met Lauren at a blogger event, and I must say, girl’s got an unabashed, bold, playful style—and a great sense of humor about it all. For example, she fully cops to wearing little boy suit pants.
Today she talks horses, grilling, and two ridiculously cool pieces she designed with said tailor:

Weekends at the Barn.
I’m that girl that never grew out of her horse-crazy stage. Moe has been with me since middle school, and after 11 years, we’ve found ourselves traveling together from my hometown Sacramento through college in Santa Barbara to new adventures in San Diego. He is without a doubt my best friend and love of my life, and I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than goofing off with my Moe.
Chai Lattes.
No morning is complete without my chai latte from Pappelecco. There is something so soothing about a steaming hot mug of tea, and for me, it’s a signal that my day has officially begun. My boyfriend also makes delicious iced chai lattes at home with almond milk—it’s pretty much heaven.
Grilling.
I am a self-proclaimed amazing griller. Seriously, I know my way around the Weber, and any given evening you can find me out on the deck with my steaks. This is, however, the only type of cooking I can call myself accomplished at. Get me into the kitchen, and your dinner is doomed.
Fashion Design.
So I’m trying my hand at amateur fashion design. Fed up with $500 skirts that don’t fit and silk trousers that puddle, I decided to try my hand at dreaming up my own duds. My amazing tailor Carla from Tailor Love and I put our heads together and have come up with some pretty epic pieces. From my new favorite Tibi-inspired statement skirt to my favorite pink silk PJ pants, I am hooked on designing truly unique pieces to showcase on my blog and encourage my readers that with fashion, the sky is truly the limit!
Exploring.
Call me La Petite Explorer. There is nothing more exhilarating and exciting than heading off the far corners to soak up new cultures and experiences. My family is also super fun to travel with, so anywhere we land, it’s bound to be a good time. This summer I want to traverse the classic American road trip routes and head to the Grand Canyon!
Thanks, Lauren! You can also find her on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.
Have a great weekend!
