Regina Morrison // My SoCal'd Life, a lifestyle blog

I first spotted Regina Morrison’s accessories line, Acute Designs, at beloved San Diego boutique Pigment in North Park. I loved how delicate the earrings looked—simple enough to jive with San Diego’s laid-back dress code but still unique and stylish. Once I discovered her headbands and hair pieces, that’s when I really fell in love. They’re intricate, delicate, and feminine, worn just as easily for your wedding as they are to a nice dinner out.

Regina herself is an inspiring woman. A former slave to the 9-5, she quit her day job and found her way to owning a business. A self-made woman indeed! Today she shares a peek into her creative process, which involves her two awesome dogs among other things.

And make sure to scroll all the way through: We’re giving away an awesome Acute Designs piece!

Name: Regina Morrison
Age: 33
Hometown: All over the Midwest
Current city: San Diego, Calif.
Professional title: Owner of Acute Designs

Daily schedule-making. Since I own my own business and work from my home, I find it completely necessary to write down a daily schedule for the following day every night before I go to bed. Sometimes I let this slide and when I do, I get completely, 100% behind on everything I have to do. I tend to lose focus easily, so having a schedule really helps. I will write daily tasks on the schedule. Things like “breakfast” or “walk dogs.” If I don’t do this, all of a sudden it’s 11am and I haven’t accomplished half of my morning to-do list.

Every day is different. I manage every aspect of my business and each day is a little different, which is what I love about my job. As far as what I do each day, that varies. If I have a huge order that needs to go out, then I will spend my morning (and afternoon and evening!) working on that. If I am caught up with online and wholesale orders, then I might spend the morning making a recipe or DIY for a blog post or doing the accounting to make sure I am on track financially each month.

Dog walks. The one thing that is the same every single day of the week is my dog walking time. I have two dogs (one sweet and old and one young and crazy) and they love their routine. They demand to be walked every day at the same times (7am, 1pm, and again around 6pm). My young and crazy pup gets a two mile walk at 1pm every day. This is one ritual I love. It is great exercise and a nice quiet time to think. I do my best thinking on long dog walks :)

Ready to get one of Regina’s awesome designs for yourself? Together we’re giving away one of her beautiful filigree crown headbands to one lucky reader. You can select a headband type as well as a filigree shape to wear it just the way you like it.

I’ve admired Regina’s pieces in Pigment before and didn’t realize she was local! How awesome. I absolutely love her headbands. And I think I need to try the making-a-schedule-the-night-before… such a good idea. The mornings definitely get away from me as well!

Those are amazing! I feel like my head/face/hair is just not made for these lovely pieces, but I’m entering the contest anyway! :-)

You find the coolest people, Arch. It’s a little awe-inspiring to see all the self-made people. Props to you all.

No joke, last weekend I was looking through these exact headbands on Etsy for my wedding!!!! Didn’t notice before that Regina was a San Diego designer—such a small world.

The San Diego community is indeed so small! She makes gorgeous stuff–you clearly have great taste :)
